Hi Gavin,
First, welcome to the Lansing Heritage.
You can't have it both ways, hi-fi sound with some drivers being pro, and as you say some been discontinued and you want to use drivers that...
You can find some of this info in the Technical Manual of a driver or system (for those who have such sheet). In the attached example for L100T3 system look at the top of page 2 the DCR min./max. of...
Just checked, i have DCR factory specs for most drivers alone, but not for systems unfortunately.
Richard
Can't say if what you measured is correct or not. But the 8 ohm spec is a NOMINAL figure only. Its not unusual for speakers to actually measure lower than spec.

Some L series speakers were designed by David Smith.
"David was responsible for such systems as the L15 and L46 for the Consumer Division", so the list might include others not specifically...
SOME OBSERVATIONS ABOUT 2242H/5749
Modeled the 2242 in speaker software to see what i would get for this "Maximum Output" described driver. Ultimate SPL drivers generally have maximized mid band...
Saw on Bloomberg Business News today an update on the lumber pricing situation.
Well, on the Chicago commodities exchange, where lumber is traded, the futures hit a new record high! As their name...
Q # 1

I know, i checked it myself, even though i don't doubt at all Barry's info. JBL has not been particularly consistent in the info surrounding the 2242 vs its ancestors. Also, in spec sheets, which are...
RE: "That cabinet is designed for 2x 2241H and should therefor suit or even suit better with 2242H."
Though one might be wondering (not me) why JBL didn't dare model the 2242 driver in 10 cu.ft....
Hi Mac,
Thanks for the input.
Last time i checked pricing locally on the sheet you describe was before the pandemic, say 12-18 months ago, it was $100. CA.
I don't even dare looking now,...
Bad news for speaker builders i guess...
Picked up a news item a couple days ago from a Canadian construction contractors association. Lumber price increases have simply gone crazy when compared...
Hi Martin,
The 2225H is a sound reinforcement driver replacing the 2205H.
In sound reinforcement efficiency (a large contributor to max output SPL) is more important than linearity.
The mid...
SHURE M75ED/R1000 EDT CARTRIDGE REVISITED
Haven't been satisfied from prior use of that cartridge, since it lacked some life. Nonetheless confident that it may be able to deliver better sound...
The Rolls delay unit was NOT presented as the solution to his problem.
But rather for "... read the short and easy to understand paragraph titled "Setting the delay time" on page 2 of the...
Came across this unconventional phono preamp. Pretty flexible and fun...
Weak aspect is the rumble filter is actually more of a LF feedback fighter than a genuine rumble filter considering its...
Why would an authorized JBL overseas cabinet builder, normally expected to follow factory specs/dimensions, would end up still 2 1/4" shorter than C435 height with side legs cut-off ? Somewhat of a...
Hi Rudy,
Very quick modeling of D123 using only the three minimum parameters required to model LF response. No time now to do a complete modeling with vent data using all TS, would need to add...
Definitely not originals nor good copies of the JBL 4530 which were around 47-48" tall.
Based on single unit horizontal pic, top half is about 18" high assuming 15" driver, and is roughly...
RE your "or don't bother?"
According to Eargle there's a far more important issue in routine SR than delay. And he questions the audible nature of time offsets, which may be perceived as such but...
Hi trip,
The answer to your question is compression driver, the way Earl mentioned. However the don't bother may also apply (i'll be back later to explain this, no time now).
In the meantime i...
Depending on one's needs and budget, some other & maybe more affordable preamp ideas, those are MADE IN THE GOOD OLE USA (note that Bellari is a division of Rolls):
