Hi Ian,
Welcome to LansingHeritage.
I couldn't get your ebay link to work so wasn't able to read the description or see any pics. I'm not familiar with Bolivar drivers so can't say much about...
They have not manufactured the LE8T-2 for decades, so even a knowledgable JBL person would not have that solution for you. And as I said the design of the LE8T-2 was very specific to the Aquarius IV....
Hello Cilvaring,
Thanks for your kind words, I finished that pair quite a while ago and actually sold them on the auction site. As a result of that I had a couple of people ask me to restore pairs...
I'm a little late to the party but I have had some experience with the LE8-T2 and the white foam surrounds on ebay. They work great, I have done three pairs now. Visually they look spot on (though...
I bought them on the proverbial online auction site. Try searching for "Replacement Foam White Edge for JBL LE8T" it's a guy in California. But I notice he doesn't have any LE8 size surrounds listed...
Audiobeer - yeah I am very pleased with how the veneer work turned out. It basically took two tries after running into issues with the glue on my first attempt. But the second attempt worked out very...
The pair of original Aquarius 4s that I bought on ebay were in such sad shape that they only included one woofer, and that one was in very bad shape. The surround was gone after a butchered attempt...
Where does the time go, another 8 months passed and I haven't sent any updates, but I did get more done last Fall and recently have pretty much finished up my rescue mission. I'll try again to give...
Thanks Odd, I saw your thread - that had a lot to do with my getting back to this project. Your pair looks wonderful.
As I restarted this project I first took on dealing with some of the internal components, here are pics of the crossovers before and after. You'll notice some strange stuff going on here. One of the...
I was always kind of disappointed when I was reading posts on this board and saw a thread where someone was working on an ambitious project and the the thread just died, never got to hear how things...
I kind of doubt that. When a driver is reconed I don't think they would go to the trouble of putting a new stamping on the back. The black piece of plastic on the front of that driver went with the...
Well that pretty much shoots down my theory that maybe this pair was near the end of the L100 and LE25 reign. Those are pretty early seriel numbers and spaced pretty far apart. My guess is that...
Fraula, could you post the seriel numbers for those L100s? The foilcals look like they are from a fairly eraly vintage but I was wondering if the LE26 was snuck in at the end of the model life, or...
Through some unexpected good luck I wont two auctions last summer (you should never bid on two at once) and have two good copies of this album. My intent was to rip this thing and make a CD of it,...
At this point I think the good advice has already been dispensed asabout how to set the controls regardless of what the decals may reveal. But in case it's useful I'm posting pics of two different...
I am yet another convert (or soon-to-be convert) to the popular 10 inch configuration. I had to start my vintage JBL journey with the L100, I just couldn't resist after years of coveting at least the...
Hey Bo....
Thanks for your input too.
Actually we will not be flying these beasts, they'll be down on the studio floor and moved into an appropriate position for band gigs.
Pics might not...
Thanks for all the valuable info Oldmics. One question, is that 600 wattas per channel or for the two channels?
Yeah but in a TV studio you need a nice smooth floor for moving the cameras. So we are kind of going the opposite route, we are adding sound abatement to the ceiling and the top of the walls. It's a...
Thanks Oldmics, let me try and answer your questions:
The studio isn't quite that large, no real studio audience, maybe a few people standing around.
The intent is to take the mix off the board...
Hi folks, looking to tap some of the collected wisdom here.
I'm associated with a small public access TV station that occasionally does productions involving local bands (of all varieties -...
This was one of the worst corners, particularly water damaged and the joint had opened up:
That's one piece of veneer that covers the front and across the top:
