As the starter of this thread way back in 2004 (!), I'd like to say welcome to the JBL Performance Series club. Receiving my first 5.1 set up was a memorable day for sure. I enjoyed that set up and...
Right. My 14-3s have been to hell and back in the "let's try this" department, and they just keep going.
I get dizzy looking at your pictures, but I'm glad you have your Performance Series components finally in hand with all the PT800s you wanted.
Black Ash, Cherry, or Birch finish?
I was going to write, "That's a big woofer!" but if it leaves the room every time you play music, then I guess it's not much help to the system.:)
For those pondering these mysteries, just remember, "selectable" isn't the same as "variable." ;)
Fellas, this is all that's in there.
...convenient until they don't work and there are no replacements. Thank goodness JBL fixed all four of my PS1400 amps before Northridge went out of business. Now I've got two spares as well, but I'm...
They've been there for a while, so I think you've got some time. Now the refurbs for $309 each shipped--those went fast!!
I've used the LE14H-3 with and without the trim ring numerous times, including months in the PT250 set up with no apparent ill effects. That reinforces the idea that the rings themselves are not...
That is bizarre. So far I'm happy to report no such occurrence.
For a used unit, that seems high. I'm not saying it isn't worth it, but I've seen very nice used units for a lot less. I mean many hundreds less.
Congratulations! As you've discovered, if you treat it right it gives back big time. I've never regretted my AVA-7, which is a well-designed amp manufactured by a top notch company, ATI.
At the LA...
Here's a thread on it.

In any event, it's not a part of the Performance Series, though it served as another incentive...
Ah, the 60th Anniversary TL260. We had a thread on that around here somewhere: Studio L guts in a 250 look-alike cabinet.
And thank you mods, but what the hell was that?:dont-know:
Anyway, to get back on track, we had a day-and-a-half of rain here in SoCal, so yesterday I sat down in the family room, turned on...
Placement is a three-dimensional activity. :)
Of course, as you raise the bottom, you also raise the top, so be mindful of the tweeter position. With those EOS Waveguides, it should pose no...
A: Glad to read that you like them so much, and thanks for posting your impressions. It's a good read. :)
B: I've had PS1400s in a number of set ups and locations and didn't experience any...
I've had a few club girls refer to "pants dropping bass" but that would be way off topic, plus it was way out of my league.

Getting a pair of 1500 ARRAYs at an astounding price like pathfindermwd did is a real treat. I sure thought about it, but many things took me off the path, so to speak. The biggest single factor was...
Well now, don't take it personally, though I can understand why you think it's kinda weird.
Down the road in six months or a year when someone has a question about the Performance Series that's...
I wanted to capture the essence of another thread whose content might get lost over time if it's not incorporated here. The basic issue is the relative compatibility of the PT800 to LF or LFE units...
Since the move out of Northridge, most everything is manufactured somewhere else besides JBL. It's still designed by JBL, but not manufactured. JBL is out of the driver (component) business.
Look...
I don't care so much if it's overly flat up top as long as there's a big bump at the bottom.
OTOH, it's hard not to desire an attractive top end as well, even if it's a little forward.
Wait.....
