Ok, I just realized that on both the old diaphragms (one gold, one blue), the wraparound lead corresponds to a black dot on the front. I’ll mark the new ones the same way. That’s the negative lead,...
Here are the marks I mentioned above, and the differences inside the voice coil (one lead that seems to wrap around, and one that doesn't).

Unlike the diaphragms I’m replacing, the new OEM diaphragms have no evident polarity marking. Each lead has a small black band on it, but that just seems to be from manufacturing. Battery testing...
Not sure. I suggested it to them several times and I got the impression they were considering it. If you called and bugged them, it might help convince them.
As I understand it, air cores can handle more power without distortion due to saturation. I'm not sure how to calculate or determine whether that's an actual problem for any given...
Actually, I kind of alluded to that in my first post. Obviously, this was built to a price point and size.
No; they're sitting on a shelf in my garage, awaiting my L300 restoration. Soon, though. And I may upgrade some of the bits.
I just happened to stumble across these crossovers on eBay (item no. 152390913172, sold by Partyprosound Audio Services, located in Mesa AZ (480) 217-8325)), $99 each, no affiliation), and I called...
OK; thanks. I've fixed my post so the terminology now should be correct. I'm just trying to confirm that the motors of the 2405 and 2405H perform substantiallly the same.
All else being equal (phase plugs, diaphragms, resale value, collectibility, etc.) is the Alnico 2405 (or the 077) preferable to the later ferrite 2405H?
I was looking at at the product...
I have a pair of LE8-Ts, but the cones are damaged and one is missing a dust cap. I realize that I can't get an original recone kit. Are there any decent alternative recone kits for these frames?...
And from me, too! I am on track to do precisely what you describe. However, it will probably be a couple of weeks before I have the process truly underway, as I won't have the cabinet(s) before...
Thanks, Tom! If they don't yet exist, I'm hoping to put together detailed, accurate, well-drawn plans that others can use, but I may not start this project yet.
The problem is, I can't draw...
Reviving this ancient thread, has anyone ever located or drawn a comprehensive set of L300 cabinet plans? All I see are incomplete notes and isolated dimensions. Thanks.
Thanks for the insights, Dave. But now I'm corn-fused: You're saying that rather than boosting the bottom end, the factory EQ lowered the middle bass range? I understand that concept, but...
OK, to my ears, flat is a hundred times better than boosted, which just kills the upper bass and maxes out the bottom-end excursion. I'll try some testing later.

OK, I've now ordered this Dayton SA230 subwoofer amp, which has bass boost adjustable up to 12 dB at 25 Hz (or higher) and an adjustable 18 dB/octave HPF (OEM amp is 10 dB/octave at what looks like...
Cool; good to know. The B212 has a largish cavity underneath for the OEM amplifier: there should be room for a decent-sized plate amp under there. I'm mentally designing a sort of embedded...
Thanks, Don! I did see that, but page 5 of the manual (bottom-left corner) describes that EQ as being for the low-pass filter rolloff (of about 10dB/octave). It never mentions any bass boost EQ that...
I'm shopping a replacement amp for my B212 subwoofer, and according to some product literature (see first image below), the original amplifier ("Bass Energizer") has a 25Hz, 10 dB boost. Yet...
I thought so, too. I'll check out the cloth on my sons's Fender amp.
No cloth source yet, but I'll update this thread if I find some. Thanks again, mate!
Thanks so much, mate! Much appreciated! Actually, based upon the peg holes and driver opening, that's gotta be right-side up.
And below is the grill fabric.
(PS I always wanted to say...
Bump: Still hoping for photos of the back of the subwoofer grill. And does anyone know of a source for the unique grill cloth? Thanks!
