That's some interesting technical information that I was completely oblivious to. Although it's obvious from listening to the True Blue CD that sound quality is important to Whitfield.
Got any...
One of my all time favorite albums:

I'm using one of these to drive my L90s:

It's an Onix SP3 and I love it! :D:applaud:
38wpc 5881 / 6L6 and they can be had on the used market for...
Ouch! That must hurt.
I hope you got a fair amount of coin for them!
Got any pictures. I'd like to see your "Franken-speaker" :D
We're just having a friendly exchange of ideas here... right? That's certainly my intent.
In the end, that's all that matters!
As an occasional speaker designer, and given a choice, I...
Good point mech986. I may play around with the dimensions a bit...
Right you are Mr. Widget. I'll re-do the shelf! :bouncy:
The diagram doesn't specify the vent diameter because I haven't gotten the vent from Parts Express yet. It's a 3" inside diameter vent, so it's probably going to be 3.5" externally.
In case...
I'm going to have the cabinet pictured below constructed. I've never had any custom wood work done and am seeking advice on what a reasonable price would be for the materials and fabrication. ...
I'll see your Chris Hagen and raise you an Einstein :D

You are right. Those are gorgeous:

True that! Fake "wood" should never have been applied to these otherwise spectacular speakers. Who ever made that decision deserves to face a firing squad!
As to the 4 way versus 3 way debate. ...
If anyone out their owns a cabinet shop and is looking to expand it, the speaker cabinet marketplace isn't being wholly served by what is being offered now.
Surely there must be others besides me...
L 100 tower:

The L100 is a beauty. I'd much rather have this model than the L7 based on looks alone....
With slim towers being in vogue nowadays, I'm finding it impossible to find pre-built speaker cabinets that can accommodate a 12" woofer on the front panel.
I might have to hire a cabinet maker,...
Yes, they exist, but I doubt that many were made or sold. I think they required / came with a conventional outboard woofer, but don't quote me on that. I'm going by memory here and that's risky :D
speakerdave, I believe you are referring to the woofer technology used in the ESS Transar:

Thanks for that link Mike. Their site indicates ESS woofers and crossovers are, or will be, available again too. Hopefully they'll make the passive radiators also.
Cool! Now we can resurrect a...
My eyes bugged out of my head when I got the new Parts Express sales flyer yesterday. New ESS AMTs are going to be available for sale on 7-3. Pricey at $350 each, but I'm getting a pair...
Good to see the kids tearin' it up old school:

If anyone has the DSOTM SACD I have a question. Is the standard CD layer the same mix as is available on the standard CDs or is it a new 2 channel mix-down derived from the remastered surround sound...
BTW, the L90 was designed for horizontal orientation. I have them set up vertically because of space constraints.
Also, they come in mirror imaged pairs.
Yes, there's a huge vent on the rear along with bi-wire / bi-amp binding posts.
Okay... Here they are:
