The prices did seem high. Unfortunately there is no source for that literature. Maybe it was a dealer reselling at inflated prices.
Maybe they had an item similar to the 375 they offered that was...

It is a different size font, sort of added "After the fact".
I wonder what the story is behind this.

  4. 375 Dynimium Driver?? Anyone know anything about this?

I got a piece of JBL literature from member "ronwilk" that shows a 375 driver in 2 configurations and prices. One is the Alnico version at 32 lbs. at $525. The other is a Dynimium version at 11 lbs....

I wonder if the "stuff" the Altecs are potted in is different than the JBLs. Do you have any pictures of the pieces you got out of your Altecs?

  6. What does the (SCH) stand for at the end of some of the crossover schematics I see?

Looking at the various JBL crossover schematics here, I've noticed quite a few have (SCH) after their name and the schematic is different.
    LX5 vs LX5 (SCH)
    LX2 vs LX2 (SCH)

    What does that (SCH)...

  8. Anyone have a schematic for the OLDER Style N1200, w/o attenuation switch?

I'm looking for the schematic for the N1200 crossover, picture attached.
Has anyone done a schematic for one of these ... or are you guys gonna make me be the first?! :)

    Thanks,

Thanks. This was my first experience with folded horn bass speakers. I am impressed. The efficiency boost at the low end is such that it's actually matching that of the compression driver / horn...

I'm not sure. When I got them, they did have the grill and the mounts for the mids in the horn opening but no drivers. The guy had a massive 2350 horn on a 375 just sitting on top of the cabinet. The...

LOL, sad, but true. I'm at the tinker, tweak, tune and listen stage. I think the first thing I want to do is get all the diaphragms to 8 ohms. That was the original plan, I'm not sure how I skipped...

I will post some pictures shortly. I'll experiment with 12" spacing too. I think I'm just being lazy since they are so heavy.

Wellll, never mind! I got off my lazy butt and moved them up against the wall and it sounded like I added a subwoofer. 6" away from the wall, the rest of the area sort of a mess of furniture but it...

Question regarding rear ported JBL speakers

I have 2 pairs of custom build cabinets from the 60's / 70's. One is the model C34 (folded horn) and the other is about the same size but has rear ports after passing by several interior mounted...

I'm a little late to this conversation. I was under the impression that the type of autoformers JBL used in their crossovers were single winding autoformers. A continuous winding with the taps...

More good news! I'll take a feeler gauge to the gap. Any idea what it should be for the modern coils to fit? Looking at the old coil from the D130, it is aluminum.

    Thanks Dave,

(Just put a cushion between the magnets! Good advice). The depth of the frames is the same on both. You may have found the difference, extended range vs woofer, Copper VC vs alum. VC....

  19. Difference between the D130 and the D130A, OLD STYLE?

I have one of each. D130 had an aluminum dust cap (I'm not sure if it was original). Both 16 ohm. both need re-cones.
What was the difference between the 2 models?

    Thanks,

I'll keep an eye out for the 5070 or 5080 or really any probe that is .038" or less. That's a big help just having that measurement as a starting point.

I think I'll need to ask the power of the machine used.
What is the proper arrangement for a driver in a remagnetizer? I'll ask him about that as well.

    Thanks.

Yes, both were done and both were taken apart, thus the need for regaussing.
It sounds like it's either the test tool or the remag machine that is lacking in strength.

    These were sold...
