Finally, a source for those rare 511Bs and only 800 bucks. No doubt they've been curated too. I breathe easier.

I was a horny for many years and used many systems, some turnkey and some DIY, using gear by Altec, JBL, EV, Klipsch, McCauley, Emilar and so on. And in the end I thought the Model 19 was unsurpassed...
An ad hominem argument. But feel free to pound your head against the wall, you might just pound some sense into it.
I've heard some decent Bose speakers and never heard a Bose so bad I wanted to leave the room, as with some JBLs.
When I was young and wanted a Beatles tune I bought a 45. Now I'm old and when I want a Beatles tune I buy it from ITunes; kind'a the same thing.
The 1823 and 1824M drivers were used in the excellent Sentry III and Sentry IV systems; I'd try them in place of the T-250s. They're available and cheap. They might not reach up to the 5000hz...
Well if one wants American made drivers with a Lansing Heritage and prices which evidently haven't shot up there's always GPA and Radian.
JBL just ain't Kalifornia Kool anymore.
I listen alot to Anita O'Day, Sarah Vaughn, Johnny Hartman and stuff like that.
I also listen to movie scores by fellas like Korngold, Tiomkin and Rosza. And Show Tunes too.
Modern Pop music...
Pink Floyd? How can you guys stay awake long enough to tell whatever it is that's going on; canned or not?
Rip van Winkle.
Even if they don't sound as good.
If you run a 1.4" driver into 1" horn you'll cause dips and peaks and bugger things up. The EV PA Bible (which is available on the EV site) explains.
Interesting.
Just what was junky about them? The AR drivers I've seen from that period had no fancy hammertone or stove enamel finishes but I saw nothing junky about them.
It's a Yankee thing; just make it work. Who cares what a fuel pump looks like?
Are those AR-4s? I recently heard some old AR-4s and was surprised at how good they sounded; good clarity and tonal...
I read that some of the Altec MI drivers had chamfered gaps so that distortion rose with increased volume thus giving a particular sound.
All those years that magazine touted lousy speakers and NOW we're supposed to think they know what they're talking about? ;)
I respect you Widget but I'd be very surprised if any small cone and dome (or ring radiator) speaker would impress me past a certain point.
When I bought the KRKs a few years ago I was ready and...
Over my $200 Guitar Center KRK 6" 2-ways? Maybe.

When have you seen any product advertised that didn't claim to be superior? What do you expect?
Bose doesn't charge an arm and a leg; Wilson, now they charge an arm and a leg.
I've heard Bose speakers sounding pretty good and at least as good as some of the cheaper JBLs I've heard which sounded pretty mediocre to me. Actually some of the better JBLs sounded pretty mediocre...
I think those are the drivers that used to be called Lambdas. They have a following among some people who previously used JBL and Altec.
Peeping Tom by Michael Powell. A serial killer with excellent taste in speakers.
This picture is one of the creepist ever made and is far more disturbing than Psycho which was made the same year....
Fostex in open baffle as done properly by my pal Kurt Chang.

We agree on one thing.
Quite a few pictures were shot in Todd-AO; Oklahoma, Around the World in 80 Days, South Pacific, The Wayneamo and Cleopatra come to mind.
