Darn straight! One of the few products from Radio Shack that was stellar. I think I paid $50 for them about 30 years ago. They still sound great. Solid metal cabinets really hold up well.

Thanks HCSGuy - good points. There is zero wall space for in-wall speakers. I will try your suggestion of testing down firing...good idea. I appreciate your input on open baffle and bleed through...
Thanks Widget - I'd not seen the JamesLoudspeaker before. Amazing design, materials and craft. And I love B&Ws. Unfortunately both are well outside my budget (need to stay under $400).
I am slowly remodeling my kitchen DIY. My wife pointed out that my old RadioShack Realistic speakers from 1992 look horrible as they are mounted under the cabinets. At first I was bummed that I have...
Following this thread with interest and appreciating the posts!
I blew my 2245H being stupid with an overpowered amp and Soul Coughing "Rolling", a tune which has some serious LF. I sent it off to edgewound for a recone and just got it back last week. It sounds...
Since it will be awhile until I'm able to afford to recone my 2245h I decided to steal the E155 out of the garage 4699B speakers so my living room sub has a driver. I'm actually looking forward to...
I had a great call with Ken yesterday. I will eventually have it reconed by him...thanks
A tiny bit better...still feeling like a dope for over driving it.
Unfortunately the vc former has some minor bubbles and some scorched marks on the vc windings. I decided to glue is back together with 5 minute epoxy knowing it might not go well. The glue up went...
I had a similar issue with a slightly different model of Sony headphone and was able to cheaply replace the ear pads purchased on-line...
Thank you for taking the time to lay out the process. I could use a little more clarification as I'm having trouble envisioning how to apply the black glue.
So if I have the speaker sitting on...
I stupidly overdrove my poor 2245H playing Soul Coughing "Rollin" way too loud. The cone froze in the extended position. I pulled the driver and there is a little good news. The coil measures a DC...
Hi Matthais,
I too have been thinking about applying the 2425/2426 to the Bella Luna Diamante design. Have you had a chance to hear one? I've not found one locally to listen to here in...
Sort of makes sense. So I guess that makes the Everest DD67000 a 3.5 way. :)
Interesting product. What makes it 2.5 way?
Sadly, no tube amps here
I appreciate the comments and calculations. For now, I'm planning on working on a cabinet design with no less than 3 cu ft for the E155...hopefully a bit bigger.
I do have a question about the...
Richard - thank you for running those calculations!
Hi Richard - Thank you for that reference doc. I had not seen it. I think I found my answer regarding an open/dipole configuration:
79342
Sounds like I'd risk damaging the driver.
Yes,...
I appreciate that! I'm impressed that you have those cabinets in the house. I couldn't swing that around here!
I hope so, when I get a minute I'll pull the driver and take a look.
I hear you and agree with you, but, I like the challenge of holding to my design goal of smallest cabinet for these...
If I build something I will probably go the minidsp 4x10 route with tons of shaping...
Ok. I was not considering that I could add mass to these cones. Is low mass the reason for the aluminum dust cover? Interesting. I'm not sure I'm down with the Hill-Billy approach but I did...
I've always liked the look of the 2342...but I have to say that I've become a little obsessed with the Bella Luna Diamante approach...and I have a friend with a wood lathe I can use. I'm super...
