A JBL 4345 tip from Ian Mackenzie 4343 4344 4345
Set up your 4345 active bi amp crossovers as follows:
Woofer to midrange Linkwitz 2nd order low and high pass @300 hertz with reverse electrical...
It’s amusing that while both Erin and Greg decided to keep it informal and see where the discussion went you guys have nothing more important than to pointlessly dissect it.
They both correspond...
I will see what l can find out.
I’m pleased you could see the positives and l agree completely. It was an informal chat.
Greg doesn’t mince words and gets straight to the point. I think that’s...

Response from Greg Timbers
Ian,
I did not spend any time active on the...
Greg suggested the following for the 4367.
I’ve relayed it to the 4367 owner in Italy with some pointers on obtaining the woofer voltage drive using a Focusrite Scarlet USB interface. It’s up to...
I have a follow up on Greg’s system below for you guys. Greg now spends most of his time on his house boat enjoying his retirement. So snippets about his system are few and far between.
Hi Ian,...
Hi Todd,
I am sure your thoughtful and generous contribution will be much appreciated.
Thank you
We will look at this more closely.
Well Good luck with whatever it’s your about.
The problem is you’re now resentful and recalcitrant to anything you don’t already know. Giskard had the same problems although you tolerated it...
If you want that as a reference for comparison then it needs to be validated. Otherwise it’s misleading.
On the basis of you’ve posted if it was true then why bother with beryllium??
I think...
I have been trying to obtain some detailed information from the presentation. Attached are some files comparing the titanium and beryllium diaphragms. (18Sound)
* Most of the B&C HF compression...
Hi Rob,
Under what conditions did you test those drivers ?
Were those measurements gated and what distance?
Looks like you smoothed them 1/12 octave.
Mmd is the mass of the moving parts of the driver; the diaphragm, dust dome and voice coil. The diaphragm is the paper cone in a standard speaker. The voice coil includes the former and the copper...
I don’t need re education thanks
there is a typo on the JBL public data
Which states the 2235 MMS as 155 grams -see below)
To re state this
The official JBL TL
...
I think within 3 grams is close enough.
FWIW the 2234 has an official MMS of 105 grams
Add the official air load MMD is 120 grams
Add the mass ring +35 grams = 155 grams =...
I hope my post helps
This is a smart phone calculator. It’s proven quite useful
No horse in this race but if in fact the cone mass was high then the real fs would be lower.
However, if the compliance is firmer this will make the fs higher.
As Richard suggested if you pop in...
Try it and see if it works for you.
I think there is a wide latitude of personal preference when it comes to HF drivers. Some people say they like beryllium but which driver, horn and which system...
Hi Martin,
I see you have been delving into this recently here and elsewhere. The 4350 is a great system to tweak and experiment with.
I am sure your having fun.
Yes the 4001 are expensive....
It depends on how the 4001 behaves on the 2311 + 2308 assembly.
My suggestion is try it and then try the equivalent 3155 network.
It depends on either a series or parallel connection of the D2 voice coils.
I extrapolated the following ref 2.83 volts
Series VC 104 db on the M2 horn
Parallel VC 110 db on M2 horn
I hope all the cables are cut to the same length? Everything matters with audio.
Hi Todd,
Probably the more important point is what to do about liveliness?
