as far as I remember the midrange driver was necessary in this build because of the lack of a big horn, which is able to load the horn driver lo enough to couple it with the bass driver. But I...
As always it depends... not really a question you can awnser with yes or now.
From my POV and with my philosophy for my room circumstances I would say YES...
And why do you insist on 15 inch mid woofers then? They're far from ideal for the purpose of 70 hz to 700 hz... for that task a small midrange driver horn loaded can do the job or a 10 inch JBL in a...
the most important thing is to plan the speaker properly before you build it...
Consider what are the specifications you need and with what compromises can you get along
Afterwards you make your...
I would agree, that the M2 is, technically, far beyond the great 4435. Sound wise it is, I assume, more of a personal preference and the what one wants from a speaker. Still I would love a...
Well if your space is that big I would go full unfolded horn anyways. That's the king route if the space is there...
I would go the single woofer route unless your space is way beyond 50sqm... no need for two woofers, one is plenty enough for ear damaging sound levels. And ofc more moved air is better, but if...
The Joseph Crowe Horns look really promising! Designed for 2 way mainly tho. Sure you could ask him to develop custom horns for you.
Btw you should ask yourself do you want a slot or a ring style...
Wow very very nice speaker! The initial try would be my kinda ideal Setup, maybe a different comp driver and bass, since td-4003 is just unobtainable and I like the looks of the TAD 1601x a lot but...
Hey Mr. Widget,
What System is your own system?;)
Because the trend today is, that 2 way is the way to go and that super tweeters are not necessary for true to life reproduction and I cannot...
Well, then good luck and please keep us up to date!:)
Honestly, if you're not satisfied with your current setup, it might be a design issue in general. Your System doesn't please you because the drivers aren't fine. They're quite quite good actually. So...
I Really love those backloaded horns! They look pretty good! Nice work:)
Nope no diaphragms available, so be careful. Pictures of your Horns and drivers would be great!
Best regards

We want -no we need- sound Impressions!:D
Best regards
Like with many things in life, less is more! In my opinion massive and big passive crossovers do not sound as nice as simpler once, that have been build with similar attention, even if the response...
Hello guys,
i know i know... this is a JBL/Altec Lansing related DIY Forum but since the TADs are mostly evelutions of JBL designs I think my question may be in the right place then:D:D
I'm...
Yes looks much better in my opinion! Gotta love the silver rings on them:)
best regards
I pretty much like paper cones with damping rings on them and the durable pa surroundings. Foam looks also pretty good. And the plosihed silver ring around the gasket is so important for me aswell....
Hey,
i like your idea of doing modern versions of the old classic cone drivers from JBL etc.
I just want to add that you don't forget the visuals of those drivers! If I look at a TAD 15 inch...
The user Earl K mentioned that someone here might be able to help me out so I will repeat my question here, thanks in advance!

Hello,
can anyone provide Crossover schematics for one of the monitor models? I just bought a near NOS pair of T825 and FD600 and would like to try the original crossovers from the monitors.:)
