This the amp and the backlighting is apparently some sort of electroluminescent (EL in Crown speak) that my tech describes as being driven by a high speed switching transformer of unknown voltage....
Thanks for asking and no offence taken :-)
Crown no longer supplies parts for this amp of roughly 1992 vintage.
Given the long history between Crwon and JBL, I was hoping someone here had...
I originally posted over in the pro amp section but in retrospect, this is more accurately a consumer amp.
I have a fine tech beating his way through a trial and error process trying to create a new...
Jeff,
Thank you for these links - I'll confirm with the tech that is working on this amp, that these are consistent with what we have been using.
I am hoping someone on LH has restored the...
It has been some time since I have been here but while away, I have been thoroughly enjoying Rick's 4344's :-)
I have recently acquired a very clean Crown amp for the 4344's, from the original...

Thanks for pointer - a quick Internet search for Mr Everest shows several books and clearly a couple of them are beyond my capability but a couple look like I could get through - which were you...
Thank you both for the replies.
In retrospect and due to my lack of experience in this field of endeavour, I probably over simplified my explanation of what I was looking for/hoping to achieve.

Greetings,
It has been awhile since I have been at LH.
On to the matter at hand...
I am 50 and my ears are shot on the top end from flying in small planes. I am considering trying to add an eq...
Thanks for the info guys.
If I find the thread detailing this stuff I will post a link to it.
For clarity I am in a 12ft wide x 40ft x 8ft room - the speakers should be about 9ft cl to cl and my...
I was just reading an old thread about your 1400 DIY's...Thanks for the input.I recall from that elusive thread that there were clear technical reasons for putting the 2405's on the outside and...
In anticipation of taking delivery of a pair of 4344's, I was reading the complete technical threads for both the 4343 to 4344 upgrade and the 4344 and somewhere in there (I think Ian brought it up)...
I just read about what has happened - I don`t have the words I should...
I want you to know how much joy your old speakers bring my family and I, every day.
More importantly, I don`t make...
Never listened to the C272 but I have the C370 which has most of the same guts as the 272 and it is a very nice amp. I expect you would be pleased with it.
There are a number of reviews on NAD's...
You may want to try a NAD T585 - it is a very nice universal player and heavily discounted right now after the Blu ray decision.
They can be had for $499 from Saturday Audio and I believe they...
TD:
Thank you for the run down on the differences between the subs - I am now enlightened.
The HTPS400 would be nice but clearly beyond my means at this point.
I am off to chase L8400's with...

Heather & TDome:
I think the packaged sub approach is a wise entry point - I 'll leave that B380 on fleabay for someone with more resources/capability.
Thank you both for sharing your...
Hi Heather,
Most of the text descriptions of those 'package' subs all suggest they are intended for HT, does this in any way imply they may not be appropriate for a stereo/audio system?
...
Thanks Heather
I am so out of my league on this stuff....:)
As I understand things now, I am going to need a x-over and a big amp, on top of the sub to complete this upgrade. The amp I think...
Thank you for that, Paul.
I would have missed it completely.
Are the BX63's hard to come by?
Cheers
Mark
I see one of these on ebay, but I know nothing about them.
Wondering if it would be a good addition as a sub to my folks system which is nice stuff, but is limited by having only two 6" drivers...
