Thank you Zilch, for the input and the link. My woofers are JBL 2205s (Alnico) and they measure 14 ohms.
I have 2 - 8 ohm resistors piggy backed with the ends twisted, placed across each woofer and I noticed that the mid bass is cleaner, but the woofer output is reduced. When I attached the resistors...
Harvey, what is the "coffin "back"?
Nick
Thank you, Maron. I guess I'll stick with 16 ohm woofers. Nick
Sorry Harvey. When Hal Cox suggested a 4 ohm woofer for me we were discussing the similarity between my horns and the Hartsfield and I thought that the 150-4-C was 4 ohms. What was the impedance?
...
There were 8 and 16 ohm versions of the LX-5. I have the 8 ohm unit. Thanks for the link, it answers my question. Nick
I understand that, but the crossovers (LX-5s) actually measure 12.5 ohms and not a bad match for the woofers. I want to know why JBL used a 4 ohm woofer in the Hartsfield and Paragons with 8-16 ohms...
You're right. My mistake. The woofers were 4ohms. I don't understand why
because my woofers blend nicely with the 2440s, but I just wondered what I was missing if anything. The curse of us hi-fi...
Thank you, Harvey for your suggestions.
Hal Cox suggested that impedance and I think Klipsch used 3.2 drivers.
I have 2 "K" type folded horns with JBL 2205 woofers rated at 16ohms.
I understand that the woofers should be 3.2ohms. Can I place resistors across the woofer terminals ( Pos. to Neg.) to lower...
Wow!! You could actually recreate the sound pressure levels of a full symphony orchestra, all 120 pieces!! Do you still have neighbors???
Ron, thank you for the info. I found out that my LX5 measures 12.5ohms, thanks to Dave, and it is a close enough match to my drivers. They sound fantastic!
Nick
I am using the subject drivers in a folded horn enclosure. I need a matching crossover and was told that the JBL 3160 was a direct replacement for the JBL N500H which was used in the Hartsfield. ...
Thank you for your info. I am buying the JBL 3160. Can you help me with the correct hook-up?
JBL has numbered inputs from 1 to 4. Which are plus and which are minus?
