I remember the grey baskets branded D120F on the back of the speaker just the same as the orange baskets were branded.
Why do people seem to think that the red basket D120F is any different than the gray basket D120F other than the paint? Is there anything I'm missing?
Rick
So mine is a round one - no need to measure the diameter. By eyeball, I can see it's no where near a 1/2" diameter so it must be the 1/4
What is your suggestion. I need to do it myself if it's...
wow that's very bizzare - the second post mentions 1/4" or 1/2" but not diameter. Thanks. So what did you do?
Rick
spring terminals (sic) are not, to the best of my experience, available at the local hardware store.
The small ones are still being made as I recall, but not available from JBL. The...
Isn't it a common item easily gotten in most hardware stores? Perhaps if not then an electrical supply seller has these. Buy 100 for $10?
Rick
where can I find the top part of the standard two part JBL D120F "push/crimp" type terminal? Mine fell off and apparently rolled off without saying goodbye. Thanks - Rick
I'm talking about my guitar amp. It's output transformer has 4 taps, in other words I'm saying 4 wire connections, each connecting to a different speaker. Each speaker is supposed to be 16 ohms and...
Let's talk about my guitar amp then as well as my stereo amp. I have a fender quad reverb with 4 - 16 ohm taps. If I tried to connect 4 - 8 ohm speakers to it instead of 4 - 16 ohm speakers wouldn't...
Thom,
I followed you up to the part where you remove the speaker from the amplifier and baffle board and lay it down on it's motor side. How could I play the CD of the tones through the D131...
Would I not need to find a signal generator in order to perform a frequency sweep? I don't own one. Also, give me a number of what you mean by a low voltage drive.
Tom,
I tried to rattle the dust cap and it's not loose. I tightened the screws and the buzzing just got worse. Who recones these speakers?
Rick
I'll check. Is there any special way of checking? If it is loose, what is used to tighten it up - a glue of some sort?
I have a D131 that is buzzing again. The first time it buzzed I removed it from the amp's baffle board, let it sit for a week then reinstalled it carefully so as not to over tighten the screws. This...
On second thought, how about trying De-Solv-it? It contains 100% active solution is 100% organic, contains no water, is a thin liquid, a citrus solution made to dissolve adhesives, crayon, gum,...
Thank you. The windex made the dome shiny and took off some smeared gunk but not the little circular looking stains. I tried rubbing alcohol (70%) and that didn't quite do it either. Any other...
The speaker doesn't have any smell whatsoever. I even confirmed this with my bloodhound nosed wife. I tried to resize another picture of the speaker dome after I only half successfully cleaned it...
Yeah, sorry it took so long to write back -
I'll have pics up soon of same speaker/dome after I cleaned it. I didn't spend a half hour, only about 10 minutes and it still doesn't look very good but...
Nothing happened to the speaker while I owned it. I bought it reconed from a former JBL employee whose job was to build these speakers in the JBL factory. It looked to be brand new when I bought it a...
Technically speaking? I still don't get it. It sounds like
you're suggesting that a mysterious cleaning man helped himself through the door to clean my speaker grill and afterward removed the...
Seriously folks, no one in this forum has even an inkling what this could be? Maybe I got it right the first time calling it something from the planet jupitar.
The top speaker dome is still in emmaculate condition as both speakers' domes looked when I bought the pair two years ago. And there are no signs of anything on the outside or the inside of the grill...
LOL! That speaker was actually the one on the bottom of the cabinet which made it in reach of the cat! I'm going to now remove the top speaker and see if the cone has this same stuff on it or not.
I have two JBL D120 reproductions built from original '70's D120F orange baskets/alnico magets that l would like to sell, but have a little problem - when I took them out of the speaker cabinet they...
I have a couple of questions about edge resonances as I've never heard of them before.
A little background before I ask the questions:
I only buy guitar equipment to play through it, I'm not...
