They may prefer it but they aren't buying it. Millenials are the portable generation and don't seem to have any interest in home audio at all around these parts. I can count the serious audiophiles...

Now I know the 2245 are the sweetspot... but yesterday I was doing my rounds and came across three 2241H in original boxes at a pawn shop. They had $199 on each one and everything is half price so...
Oh, I'd definitely try to restore those. Finish stripping all the black paint off and make a sanding plane to take down any high spots in the particle board. As far as those ports.. I'd try to glue...
Don't try to remove it! It will break in a million pieces. Fix it in place if you plan to keep these original. Earl, those look nice, especially the grills.
George, to answer your question, not really. You can roughly glue in a scrap to fit and fill in any voids around it with Bondo. The paint is a pretty common match. I'll try to find what color I used....
I'm thinking it would be kinda cool to do a custom build with 2235Hs and 2395/2440s in pretty much the same type cab. Hmmm...I know where to get these parts too.
+1 Tell us where you got those. Also, which drivers are you running on each?
That's what I was thinking. Thanks Lee.
Explanation please.
I wonder why they chose Magnificents? they don't exactly have what I would call a flat response like most studios opt for. I actually think many of the JBL monitors would have more accuracy. Correct...
Wow, you are busy as a beaver! I love it! I would love to hear those with some single ended gear. What type of efficiency are we looking at with the Hartsfields?
Four Magnificents in the back. Holy crap! I used to have a pair of those and they are huge, huge, huge...a little bigger than the K-horns I had even.
OK, did a little more research. Is Pantone 403 the right gray for driver bodies?
Ouch, that just hurts to look at. The 420A is one of the best sounding drivers I have heard. Unfortunately, recone kits are non- existent. You can recone them to 416s however. :)
Anyone know the suitable replacement to the Krylon 1613 semi- flat black lacquer for the tweeter horns, and brackets? Also the gray color for the professional driver bodies?
What do you find odd about them? They look like old Racon and Western Electric drivers.
Right on Lee! Did you topcoat with any particular gray or would it be best to bring a horn down and have it matched in enamel? By the way, you still have any of those fancy dancy aluminum tweeter...
I am refinishing 4 sets of drivers. 2405s, 2402s, 2305 horns, 2 pair of 2420s. I have read on many threads that the discontinued Krylon 1613 semi- flat lacquer was the thing to use for horn flairs...
Saw these bronze conversion kits on eBay. I was looking to freshen up a pair of 2402 I have. Problem is, this bronze kit will cost you the price of two pair of used 2402s. They are very nice...
I think your impressions are the direction I would be headed. LE-15A and LE-85. Try to find a pair of N7000/N8000 crossovers for the bullet tweeters. Lee in Montreal makes the L-shaped aluminum...
I just want to say to the very good members here at Lansing that you guys/gals are the best folks I've ever had the pleasure to interact with. I have never met so many selfless folks who helped me...
Crystal clear! Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me. You probably just saved me hundreds!
Damn, you are a genius subwoof. :applaud:What exactly do you mean by pole piece- phase plug? Wouldn't it make it even wider if I tapped it toward me? Or do you mean tap on the section of the pole...
I thought about trying what you are describing but also feared the same outcome or worse. It has obviously been dropped or abused from looking at the outside driver body. Basically, is it cheaper to...
Anyone? I actually took this driver to someone who repairs speakers after I found it to distort. It had two known issues. A torn screen and boogered up throat into the back side of the phase plug. It...
