Well we did hook them up,but only at time of purchase and they did sound just fine.Not all the surrounds are detached,I'd say only about 30% on each driver is not touching.

Really all you need to do is get as much of the old adhesive off the face of the cone that you can (scraping with your thumbnail?) and gently rubbing it off, and adhere the new surround to that...
