I worked in heavy industry for 43 years as an electrician. That Field Coil Tweeter looks like part of a M contactor that opens an armature circuit on a very large DC motor. 90% of it is missing. He...

    WTF

Check this out on ebay. Type in "field coil Tweeter". For only $2000.00 you get no permanent magnet no phase plug no horn and no DC supply. Comments?
  6. Tweeter

How high can you hear? Put your best headphones on and run some test tones. Now turn the volume up and test again. At higher volumes you can hear better. Don't keep doing this, bad for your ears! One...
  7. 4430 Tweeter

Hi 4344. I'll be doing the same thing soon. I have 4435s and I'll be adding 2405s to them. I already have the 2405s. The crossover will be high pass only and come in at 12khz 12db/oct with a Lpad....

    Poor Man's Everest DD67000

I want to add 2405 tweeters to my 4435s. I already own the 2405s. I don't want to change the JBL xover. I was thinking of just using a passive high pass 12db/oct at 14Khz with a L pad. Then set the...

    Thanks srm51555

A lot of work went into these. They were in bad shape when I got them. There was a wasps nest in one horn and mice had made nests in both cabinets. New foam on woofers, new grills by Huntley audio,...

    4435

Yes, I do have a active xover in there. It's a DBX 223 18 db/oct. Sometimes I run them passive xover to, sounds good both ways.

I'm using the switch on the passive crossover. Switch it to biamp, so the EQ for the horns is sill in. Plug and play.

Thanks, I have owned them for about 4 years now so I know how they sound. What I like most about them is how they sound left to right or stereo or imaging I think. Also they sound BIG! I bet they...

    Finished! 4435s

I'm finished for now. Using a sold state amp for the low end and a tube amp for the horns. Does anyone know what these things cost when new? 1audiohack, I tried to PM you but it didn't work or I...

Restoring my 4435's. I have two different drivers for the horns, 2421A and 2426H. Both have the correct JBL diaphragms in them. I have been using the older 2421's. Is the 2426 a better driver

    Restoring JBL 4435s

    Hi, everyone.
I was thinking of painting the 2344 horns on my 4435's gloss black because there are some marks on them. Could the paint effect the sound in any way?
    Thanks, Gary

Are Charge Coupled crossovers Snake Oil ?

Is this based on the belief that AC capacitors have crossover/notch distortion when the current/voltage crosses zero like a bad class B amplifier? Or am I missing something? If so, how can I set up a...
