I just remembered these are from a pair of JBL L45 speakers and indeed they used the LE5-5 as a mid.
Going through a box of old JBL drivers, I came across these le5-5 mids . I have only seen them with black cones, are they early versions? The letter on both is faint but I'm pretty sure they say...
Thanks! I figured it was less.
Looks like my choices are to list them on that auction site and see what they bring or take a guess and offer them up at the Lansing Place Marketplace!
I have a set of pretty nice C36 speakers. They have the LE14/LX8/LE20 load which I don't see come up to often, to give me an idea of comparable prices.
They don't have any legs and the grills need...
I picked up a pretty nice set of C36 speakers last weekend. Biggest flaw is the grill cloth, could anyone point me to a source?
I think these were produced at the end of the C36 run of production....
Thanks, I just got the same reply from the seller!
Can anyone tell me what JBL cabinets these are?
I'm much more knowledgeable on the older 60s & 70s gear.
The gap for the cone seems really small for these woofers, using some 35mm film that has a thickness of 0.0053"and I can just get it in. Is this a normal shim thickness for these woofers?
I'm located in Oregon, down near the CA border.
Thanks,
I just wanted to make sure they were not something significant, before I send to the recycle bin.
The had a single D130 in them, although pre-cut openings for a 3-way.
I'm guessing a DIY cabinet kit of some kind?
I did my best to remove the Lansaloy surround and think I got most all of the caulk off the cone. Can anyone tell if the new foam should be put on the front of the cones, like was suggested. What is...
Knowing that I'm most likely not going to keep them, it seems that I should just sell them as is and let the new owner decide on a re-cone or foam.
I picked up a set of beat up L45 Flairs, I have enough projects already and wasn't looking for another. They only wanted $10 for the pair and the cabinets were bad enough I was pretty sure I wasn't...
I have the original sales receipt showing it listed as S8. It also came with a sales brochure from 1962, It lists the S8 with these components. LE15A, 375, HL93 & LX5 and that is what was loaded in...
My best was a nice set of 1962 Olympus S8's, that I won in an local auction for $400.00
And my latest a very nice set of Jubal's, missing one 126A for $100.00 at a garage sale.

The original literature that came with my Olympus speakers were about maintaining the finish not restoring them. I have scanned a copy of them them for you.

I have not pulled any of the drivers, yet I'm pretty sure they are have the JBL 375's in them. Looking down the throat of the horns, The horns are very short. The original receipt, specs them as...
I have a set of 1962 JBL C50 S8 Olympus speakers that I need to sell. I'm trying to figure their value. I did a bit of searching here and Ebay and I had no luck finding any others of this vintage. I...
I was not getting them for the tweeters, they would be instead of spending the money on the L166's. Which have other issues that I would have to also tend to.
I posted a " want to buy" ad in my local Craigslist looking for replacement O66 tweeters for a my L166 and got a response asking if I was interested in a pair of L100s. Pretty much for the cost of...
The condition of the other speakers and are good except one woofer needs new foam and one LE 5-8 mid has a dented dome. I'm not sure I want to put the money into them, $200 I'm guessing.
Speakerdave,
Are you saying it can not be repaired?

Hi, I'm new here and hope to get a little help.
I picked up 3 sets of JBL speakers recently and started going through them one at a time. The first set is the L166 and on both the 066 tweeter was...
