Not too hard to work out what parts are missing especially since its been hand sketched onto a 828 drawing.
Why would I bother with the Dindsale project when I want to use the 825 as a try and see...

Do you reckon this could work? Probably replace the reflectors with smaller ones. If I could get the response down to about 50hz would be fine as it will hopefully keep up with the mid horn.

Haven't really thought about the driver yet, just want to know if anyone has tried this approach.
  5. Modifying the Altec 825 bottom compartment area into a rear loaded horn

Just picked up a rough pair of Altec 825 3/4" particle board boxes for nixs. The bottom rear panel had some water damaged so I've removed it and the front vented panels areas as well.

    Just...

Art J, The extra weight doesn't change much from the original in regards to stablisation, beside I was going to tilt the boxes back slightly by using smaller castors on the rear. Whats your thought's...
  7. Removal baffle or not?

Almost finished making the stepped woofer baffle, I used 1 1/4" material for the baffle as the hole is quite large and I wanted to make sure that the woofer has as much support as possible.

I think you need to listen to both woofers in the J Bin, I personally would use the 416 but some might like the sound of the 515 better, in the end its your ears that have to like it.

Doesn't sound too bad in the J Bins, this woofer was used in many designs ranging from horn loaded VOTT A7's to the ported Model 19's. I found the mid upper bass of the J Bin with the 416 was a...

Thanks again, the only issue I see if you call it that is the cutout dimensions for the woofer on the plans state 14-1/8" whilst the Altec 411-8A product sheet states 14-3/16", no big deal I will...

    Art J,
Thanks for the plans, can you remember what thickness the wood was? One last request, do you have plans for the grill.

  15. 9846-8A owners need help with baffle dimensions

Just bought myself a pair of vintage Altec 9846-8A styled monitors. They appear to be fitted with the correct gear e.g. 511B horn, 802-8D driver, 501-8A xover, 30904 attenuator/equaliser network and...
