JBL 4429 vs. SAM1/SAM2 for Theater LCR

I have read great things about both the 4429 and the SAM1/SAM2 combo (would be using with the passive crossover). I have also received feedback that one of the biggest differences between the two is that the SAM1 has much greater dispersion, especially in the vertical, which can make placement easier. I'm wondering if anyone has any feedback or comparisons regarding these. There is obviously a significant price gap between them, and while both are in-budget, I'm looking for value over price.

Room is a 14x14 open loft area. Single row of seating 12ft from screen. Speakers will be behind an acoustically transparent screen with baffle wall.
