Next, take them apart.

One had been punched through, like so many I've seen.

So pull out the heat gun, remove the foilcal and make a clean hole with a hole punch.

Reapply the foilcal and a much cleaner look.

One of the mounting brackets was broken.

Fill the break with JB Weld and clamp it in place to set.

I started with some 180 grit on a flat surface. In this case, a piece of 1/4" glass I have to sand the face smooth and flat.

A piece wrapped around to break the surface and remove some of the paint. You can see the original machining marks. You don't have to sand this perfectly smooth.
