How to remove foam surround done wrongly?

Hi,

I'm thinking of refoaming a passive radiator of L222. The previous owner had the foam surround glued to the top instead of the under-side of the cone. Maybe it was because he couldn't find the correct foam surround.

My question is, how do I remove the newly done up foam surround? I will try to use a pen knife to try to remove as much foam as possible, but I suspect that would not produce a clean job. Is there some kind of solvent that I can use to clean up the cone and basket edges before I glue the new surround?

You should be able to clean the basket completely with a knife. The blades will have to be changed very often.

You will probably not be able to really clean the cone.

I would not use any solvent on the cone.

Hi. I would not do it at all. Leave it as it is. Do you (or others) believe to hear it??

Unless you can get a proper kit, there is no sense in undoing things. If you can get a good kit, there are instructions on doing surrounds elsewhere on the forum.

I think I can get the proper kit. But think I'll just bear with it for now. Don't think it will make that much difference, it just that visually....:banghead: .

The cat eye is really something, also the lens, the L222 images really well. Speakers just disappears. Only comment is that the weight of the sound don't seem to be able to match the 4333 I used to own.

k-120 with home made dust caps to tone the mid range down a bit(cause i still got the original jvc mids 80w rwm with a huge magnet the heaviest mid i ever held
in jvc boxes with horns where the bass port used to be and an anged slighty upward bass port protruding about an inch past the cab
but every one who comes to my house is blown away
if looks are every thing to you than maybe get a brand new set of speakers and post pics for us to envy
