I started my project. jbl/Ron made a beautiful system. I wanted the same system.
I used Baltic Birch plywood and followed this to use walnut veneer:

The system sounds very much clearer than any other system I have at home. It took me a while to adjust to obtain this sound. I get punchy LF and HF is just right for my ears. I can sit about 6 feet away and bring the volume louder without any discomfort. I have to worry about my hearing though. :D

Sheesh! 'Didn't tie your username to who I'd sold this stuff to - 'glad it's worked out OK. Ya' know- those would also be killer for a little PA, but with judicious setup, I imagine they work pretty well for Hi Fi. Maybe with just a slight tweak for VLF.Quote:

I agree with John, they would make a killer little dance floor speaker box. About 8 of them around the room with a bunch of double subs for a little get-go!

Keith - you should seriously consider Scott's offer! He needs the 2226 for PA use, and 2235's are definitely a better speaker for extended LF response. But then again, what you have looks like it turned out pretty nice...Quote:

The each panel thicknes and port length are followed.
Internal volume is easily calculated. The volume of 2370A was subtracted from the total.
I tried to keep the internal volume close to 5 cubic feet by shortening the depth.

Replaced 2226H with 2235H. ( Thank you, Scott.)
With 2226H, I was getting tight bass with punch, but VLF was somewhat missing.
After the change, I have lower bass with 2235H. But I felt I lost punch and slam slightly that 2226H was producing.

I closed 2 ports with Zilch Plugs, and adjusted setting of 3110A.
Now I am getting deeper base and punch which I like.
Keep playing them! It only gets better.
Everything is working out and Keith's "project" speakers look great!

You'll also probably have to bring down the relative balance to the horns now that you've got 2235's in there, because I don't believe they're as efficient as the 2226's were. So once you've matched the horns to the 2235's, you would then need to bring the overall volume up to match the earlier conditions, which should theoretically bring back the "punch" that was diminished...
Anyway, let us know how it goes.
