I realize that maybe some of the knock offs might work. The chassis version of the NL4 I got don't! Just the weight of the cords cause them to loose connection. I tried adjusting the metal prongs inside but they just aren't casted correctly. So although they were like a buck a piece, it was a total waste of time and effort. I have to spend hours replacing them all now with the real ones. I should have known better!

Even the Switchcraft and Amphenol "Speakon compatible" connectors are not worth it!
Knock off XLR connectors are even worse, they either will not fully mate up and latch with a
real Neutrik or Switchcraft and if they do there's a good chance it will get stuck in the connector.
For the record Switchcraft XLR connectors are not so bad.
