Altec Lansing 1010 help

Some days ago I purchased a pair of home speakers - Altec Lansing model 1010.
As the two woofers are recoiled but not well recoiled I must do it again.
I measured the Dc resistance, in one woofer is 3.9 Ohms and in the other 7.8 Ohms, may be someone can help with the correct value.
As it is I hear a natural bass, the midrange bottled, and the treble a little bright (I'm comparing them with a pair of JBL LX600). Some experience hearing this speakers ?
If I change the paper cone with other brand the change in the sound is big ?
