2x2226 with 2352 and Radian 951 Be

I’m working on three different high-end speaker systems using JBL, TAD and Radian drivers. I was the head Engineer for Equator Audio and love to use DSP to correct some errors but I believe that using these quality drivers with minimal correct should turn out well. I would like to get your input into my first project here. Project 1 has 2 JBL 2226 drivers with the lower one using an inductor to block high frequencies like the old JBL soffit mount monitors using two 15 inch drivers. Then I crossover to the JBL 2352 mid sized biradial horn mounted with a Radian 951 beryllium driver. I’ll drive the whole thing with two channels of a PDAXPRO3 plate amp with DSP. With the horn having a 1.5 inch throat and the driver having a 1.4 inch exit, do you think that just centering the driver on the horn is good enough or should I turn an aluminum adaptor piece to match them?

Depending on the thickness needed to match the correct exit/entrance angles, you might get away with an extra gasket and some modeling clay in the gap. You'll have to measure/calculate that unless someone here knows.
Ultimately, you don't want that step/discontinuity.

At high frequencies that step will likely affect the frequency response. Modeling clay is certainly reversible and will let you experiment with different slopes.

Yes, I have a couple of different sweep systems. If it causes a simple recursive frequency response problem I can fix that with an IIR filter but if it causes a polar pattern problem like a bunch of lobes then I can’t fix that.

From my experience it is always better to fix problems with physical solutions before resorting to electronic corrections. Correcting a room issue or a design issue has always given me a superior final result than relying on an electronic fix.

I am not saying that electronic corrections are not powerful and often quite helpful, but if you can use less, the results in my experience are always better.
