.

there was a phone number ... I looked at it and thought "I know that number"
Oh yeah , that's LHF member maggnepan's number. Hope I'm wrong. No. It was Dan who died last week. F*ck.... he's been a friend for 30 years.

Called and talked to his son. He mentioned that Dan said I was one of his real friends. So I got in the truck and drove way over to Hillsboro. The boys had things stacked up for me.
Said he was getting calls from Seattle,Eugene ,,San Fran ..etc.
Stuffed the truck with: ..... highlights
JBL 4671OK's (that I had sold to him)
Velodyne F-1200
Sansui XP-99 TT with M91ed, Signet weight and spare head/cart*
ESS AMT 10b's (I have a pair & love them)
Magnaplanar MG-I IMP pair
couple R2R decks + lots of tapes
Heathkit AP-1615 preamp
Carver sonic hologram generator c-9
some DBX boxes ..1BX, 117
Marantz CD-80 deck
Sansui 9090db
2 large/heavy ESS AMT drivers
4 round ESS AMT drivers
a large marble slab for TT vibration reduction
*the TT seems well regarded. He talked about it often.
was just reading something about a counter rotating platter.
Th XP99 actively and passively suppresses vibration.
Actively suppressing vibration is our revolutionary Silent Synchrotor System, assisted by our friction-free linear coreless motor, straight tonearm and solid, anti-vibration cabinet.
The XP-99 comes complete with a moving coil cartridge (AT-3100S) for crisp, transient sound - unusual for an MC, it features a user-replaceable stylus.
Wish I had visited his home under better circumstances. :(

so I've been down with a monster cold for 2 weeks
.
finally felt good enough to get out for a bike ride ...it's sunny and near 60 degrees.
So there were actually a couple of garage sales. ... first 2 had standard crap :banghead:
but on the third I noticed a thrashed SL-Q3 sitting dejected. had a $3 tag on it, was barely worth that.
But then I noticed that it still had a good headshell in it , pulled it off to check the cart.
Stylus looked good .. :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy: . Quickly gave them my bux and headed home. Pulled the V15T3's shell from daily driver Pioneer TT and subbed this in ...my oh my. :D . Perfect. maybe even some salvage parts on the Q3. ;) (cart needs a little cleanup, but..you know, price was right )
guess it was the right time to get well ?
