Replacing 050 tweeters for JBL 250 jubilee, options...
I recently bought a pair of piano black JBL 250 ti Jubilee's. This is my second pair, the first pair are the wooden cabinet with the famous 044 tweeters.
I got them at a bargain price, even considering the tweeters have to be replaced, as they were 're-modelled' by childrens fingers.
I know the golden 050 tweeters are very hard to find, but this does not worry me much. I believe silver 050 tweeters were used in the european L20 / L2000, L40 / L4000, L60 / L6000, L80 / L8000, L90 / L9000, L100, 1000 ti, 3000 ti and 5000 ti JBL models, so sooner or later a nice pair will appear on e-bay.
However I have a pair of 035ti lying around (originating from a pair of L60T 's) that I can use.
Also I saw that JBL has the 052 tweeter that one can buy at reasonable prices.
My questions for you guys are:
1. Does anyone have a pair of 050's (silver or gold) lying around and is willing to sell at a reasonable price (please be aware of the credit crunch!!)?
2. If I would have to choose between the 035ti and the 052, which option would give me the best sonic match compared with the original 050's?
3. And would any changes to the network would be required if I were to use the 035ti or the 052?
Your help is appreciated!!

Found nice pair of L60's with 050ti's......
Today I bought a nice pair of L60 speakers that have the 050ti tweeter.
I'm planning to use these as a donor for my JBL 250 jubilees. So next step is to remove the 050ti's from the L60 cabinets.
Now there is a challenge!. Seems that the face plate is either glued or connected with some kind of 'click' mechanism. Anyone familiar how to remove the face plate without damaging anything?
If you are wondering which model the L60 is, please click here. All these european models have the same tweeter and faceplate.
Thanks for your help...
Removed the face plates of teh L60 tweeter
I decided to take my chances and just put a screwdriver between the cabinet and the face plate.
As I discovered the face plate is connected to the cabinet by some kind of silicone. You do not need to apply a lot of force, so both cabinet and face plate were undamaged.
Next step: removal of the metal face plate of my 250Ti Jubilee's.

How it (almost) all got solved
Finally I have found some 050ti tweeters, by parting out a pair of L-60 (european series). Although these were also covered by a plastic cover, removing these was quit easy.
So now I had a pair of 050ti (silver) tweeters I had to remove the damaged 050ti (gold) tweeters from my 250 ti's.
Removing the face plate is quit difficult. I decided to use a hairdryer to soften up the glue behind the face plate. Then I decided to find the thinnest semi-hard plastic I could use to put between the cabinet and the face plate.
I found a piece of plastic that we use in Holland to close bags of bread with!!
Once a gap was created a bigger plastic piece I use to apply glue on larger surfaces was put between the face plate and teh cabinet. From there on removal of the face plate and tweeter was easy.
Now I have mounted the silver 050ti from the L60. They fit almost perfectly.... however once the face plate is mounted, the face plate is not fully recessed and sticks out a bit. Seems to me that one 050ti is not 100% equal to the next 050ti !!
I incuded some pictures form the removal proces for future usage.
