Revel/Levinson (unfortunately, too small a room).
18" Revel Sub [driver noted on JBL/Northridge Tour] not yet ready, per Kevin Voecks.

That's all folks...
Thanks Grumpy!
I'm sure a lot sounded great, some was surprisingly not great, and much was somewhere in between. You saved me a trip down south. :D
Widget
Thanks Grumpy. Is the rod driver the Heil bass driver?? I remember reading about it and it just fadded away.
Rob:)
Widget: yes, there were surprises in both directions.
Rob: I got the feeling the Heil driver was
intended for mid duty as well, but it was hard
to tell, they were running that single system as a
center channel with the AMT1s on either side.
But yes, that was the driver from the mid 70's.
P.S. the driver in the panel was somewhat different
in shape and size from the unit in the separate
driver-only photo (driven surface was square in the
panel speaker, and the 'surround' appeared to be metal
(metallized plastic/lexan?),
a curved continuation of the 'cone' (such that there was
available a larger range of motion). I'd post a close-up
pic but it came out a bit fuzzy... should have used a
flash.
Ah there was a thread here about 2yrs ago...
ESS Transar is the unit in the pic above. A google image
search brings up a few clearer pics, and here's an interesting
thread (for those interested in the odd and unusual):

It looks like quite a show. Did you take in any of the live entertainment, the wine booth, or the cigar booth?
Barely made it out before closing time, working my way from the top floors, down.
Some rooms I visited twice, such as TAD, returning when they switched in the larger systems.
Smoke from a BBQ is about my happy limit, and while wine and listening might
be enjoyable in other settings, I was in more of a critical investigatory mood.
I was hoping to have time to sample the live music, but they were packing up
as I walked by. Car show? I think there were two cars parked out front... an Isetta
and a Mustang? ooh. Didn't seem like I missed much. Bought two CD's.
Listened to a Lavry DA11 through TOTL Sennheisers (very nice sound, very
helpful and interesting tech rep for Lavry ... time well spent). Walked by the
Headroom? headphone setup gauntlet, and pile of guitars (which normally
would have been a draw, but I was getting tired).
Last stop: I waited a few minutes to hear what I thought would be a Magico Q3
demo ... it was, sort of. The actual point was to promote cable with biased shields
and little resonant hemispheres that were placed about the room "to promote a
holographic experience". The normal music that came through sounded quite
good (Esoteric front end)... the demo music was a little trippy/spacey to begin
with, -and- unfamiliar, -and- the before/after dead time was too long to be able to
form any real opinion (although someone behind me stated something like
"night and day difference")...OK ... -maybe- something subtle/different with the
biased cables. I'd need a lot more convincing. The other bits I will just politely
leave for others to discuss their potential merit or lack thereof.
Commentary: if people really do buy the speakers that are the bulk of what's
shown at these shows, we should all be buying up Accuton stock :p

Met Mr. Lavorgna briefly in the Chapman/Cary/MIT
room. Seemed like a reasonable fellow.
