All I want for Christmas is the plans for a 826a Iconic speaker system:D:D. OK plan B. Does anyone know what Volume the woofer needs and where the holes for the baffles go? I will mount the horn on top of the cabinet
Merry Christmas!

( From the 826 pics in the library ) I guesstimate the 826 cabinets internal volume as 7.5 cu ft ( after subtracting 5"-6" for leg height ) .
DIMENSIONS
( Your cabinet ) tuned to the 803a's fs ( & then placed near a corner ) should get you close to original Altec performance goals .
Having your( 60 plus year ) old speaker tested for it's TS parameters would be helpful in determining the best box/woofer alignment .

OK Thanks guys. Your reward will be a schematic for the Altec a323 amplifier. This is the only one on the net beside the one I posted on Flickr. If you want to see better pictures of the amplifier just google my name( Keith Greenhalgh ) and you will get a link to Flickr to see the pictures.Attachment 68787:bouncy:
Crap! I need new glasses. I misread 826 as 846. If you can find a copy of, 'How To Build Speaker Enclosures' by Don Davis, you will find a drawing for building the 831 Capistrano. That box was loaded with the 803 & 811. In that design, ALTEC vented around the horn. I built a pair several years ago, but used different tuning vented out the bottom and loaded them with the GPA 604-8H III.
Sorry about that. When I found your thread I was on another forum thread chatting with someone about his Valencias.

I found my copy of Davis' book. Your components were used in this model. I built a pair of these. You don't have to make exact copies, but you can use the print to duplicate the volume and venting.
NICE !
Thanks for posting that .
I'm sure that set of drawings should be very useful to the OP.
Merry Christmas to You & Family!
