1.5" to 2" adapter for the new bolt pattern

Hi!

I am looking for an adapter to fit a 2435 (1.5") on a 2397 (2328 actually, 2").

P-Audio has such an adapter, but the bolt pattern for the 1.5" part does not fit the 2435, and I would like not to have to drill new holes (I am not really good at these things, and I can already see the result from here :barf:).

I know JBL sells a AD435 adapter for the 435Be, but it can only be found in Japan and is very expensive (something like $200 apiece).
Does JBL Pro have such an adapter?
Any other solution you can think of?

Am I the only one here who ever wanted to plug one of these new 1.5" drivers on a 2" horn ? :(

Most certainly not. However, I'm also not in the mood to pony up $400USD
plus shipping for a pretty pair of adapters.

Would the snout from a 2450 make a good start? or is it not intended
to be separable? (I don't have one to view) Short of a less costly alternative,
I'd head to the wood shop if the need arose.

TAD makes a 1.5" to 2" adapter. I am not sure if it's geometry is correct for the 243X series of drivers. It may be as it is for converting their shallow TD-4002Z driver into a TD-4002 driver with similar geometry to the TAD TD-4001 which is a copy of the big JBL 2"ers.

They are fairly reasonable at around $80 to $100 each. That said, their bolt pattern is correct on the 2" side but not for the 1.5" side. A bit of drilling would be necessary. :(

Now I will have to find someone to drill those P-Audio PC5038 for me.

I doubt it will be ideal, but it certainly is an economical way to give it a shot, and who knows... it just might do the trick. :)

I tried some of the P-Audio 1" to 1.5" adapters and they were nothing more than a random transfer from one size to the other. Hopefully their 1.5" to 2" are a little more thought out.

The 2" horns that such an adapter would help mate a JBL 1.5" driver to
are almost certainly not the optimum flare rate either, so I'm not convinced
that the difference between a conic transition and a 160Hz flare exponential
section (of the same length) would be the more significant mismatch to deal with.

The TAD or P-audio as a starting point would certainly be simpler than from
scratch (or band-sawing a dead 2450) :) Good to know.
