Buddy Merrill - The Best Of Buddy Merrill
(1969, Accent)
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...s1/bm001-2.jpg
I'm a sucker for easy listening/jazz guitar titles, the Les Paul/Chet Atkins wannabes. This was a 50 cent clearance shelf grab. Buddy Merrill was a regular with Lawrence Welk. He had a style of guitar playing known as multitracking, according to wikipedia. This is a wonderful sounding recording. includes a cover of Take Five. The Accent label was distributed by GNP Crescendo.

Nektar - Down To Earth
(1974, Passport) STERLING RL in the deadwax; mastered by Robert Ludwig at Sterling Sound; engineered by Geoff Emerick
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...rds1/nk001.jpg
progressive and funk elements set around a demented circus theme. fairly accessible rock nicely recorded.
I grabbed a bunch of Nektar records last year when they showed up on the HPB clearance shelf.

17 degrees today..a mite cold for riding and also last night the church called and my second 4671 is finally ready (after ONLY a 4 month wait) ..so we drove down to get it and stopped at the thrifts on the way home...
must be in a mood for female singers ...and its always "Linda time"
always had an interest in bird calls and this came with a big book , so
when I get tired of pop rock..well now , I have another alternative....
(think it'll be more of a tweeter workout than fullrange - pun intended)
JC was a no-brainer

Rush - self titled
(1974, Mercury) MASTERDISK G.K. in the deadwax; mastered by Gilbert Kong
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...rds1/ru001.jpg
lots of good early 70s heavy metal in the debut. big fat guitar and bass chords. Not a big fan of their later stuff, but this is a lot of fun with great sounding mastering on the major label release.

Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
(1975, Swan Song)
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...rds1/lz001.jpg
the favorite Zepp album for Plant and Page. I haven't listened to this one enough to be overplayed like most of the earlier LZ records. This double LP of the band at their peak is a treat. #70 on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest albums list.

Black Sabbath - Mob Rules
(1981, Warner Bros) TOWNHOUSE LONDON in the deadwax
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...s1/bs001-5.jpg
Black Sabbath instead of Black Friday here. 10th studio album and 2nd with Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Keeping a few miles safe distance between me and the malls but I did hit a garage sale and a couple of thrifts, and found a few pristine dollar records buried in the Andy Williams and Mac Davis titles.
-
Poncho Sanchez - Bien Sabroso!
(1984, Concord Jazz) Mastered by George Horn; Concord Jazz Picante label
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...s1/ps001-1.jpg
clean latin jazz with the percussionist, no electronics or 80s studio tricks. Sanchez worked with Cal Tjader and his music is influenced by him. a $1 find at GW today.

Wishbone Ash - Wishbone Four
(1973, MCA)
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...s1/wa001-1.jpg
I saw these guys in the early 70s, probably touring in support of this record. I picked up this copy a couple of years ago from the 50 cent clearance shelf at HPB.
