Hi,

Can anyone provide me with information on a pair of Altec Lansing Aspen loudspeakers I’ve just acquired.

I guess they’re at least 20 years old. These are a two way design using an 8 inch mid-bass and a domed tweeter (not a horn). The tweeter is marked 50-03-025409 743 TND, and the woofer is marked 50-03-025410 642 TNG. The external cabinet dimensions are approximately 20 x 13 x 10 inches (h x w x d). The cabinets also have the number 8602 etched on the rear.

I've just connected the Aspens up to my Audiolab transistor power amp that I normally use to drive a pair of fairly insensitive Kef Reference 105.2 speakers, and have been very impressed. The Aspens are obviously a lot more sensitive, and have a much clearer, more detailed and dynamic sound.

I’d like to know if the Aspens were designed for use with valve amplification.

I’d also like to know what the sensitivity, impedance, and frequency response are if possible. The Aspens don’t have quite as much bass as the larger Kefs, but what’s there seems better defined and less sluggish.

Thanks,
Mike.
