Hi does anyone know if JBL sells the foam ring that surrounds their tweeters like the one in the L-100 and 4311 studio moniter??? Or is there a aftermarket source???:hmm:

You can make them, with scissors, an Xacto knife and patience.

While at it, what was the purpose of the softer, harder and the ones that had a metal (plastic?), cover instead of foam?

Giskard:

What were the sonic differences?

Thanks,

Alex.

Giskard would know....however it would be hard to imagine that there would be any noticeable difference providing the dimensions were the same as the ring they replaced..

I can say this: The ORIGINAL foam ring for the LE25 seemed to be less "dense" foam (ie, bigger pores) than that for the LE25-2.

OTOH, the replacement LE25 kits I just got, had foam rings IDENTICAL to the ones on the last couple pairs of LE25-2s... ie, the dense ones. Dunno why they'd still be showing that many part numbers, unless the rings, ordered by themselves, are indeed different parts than the one they're including with the recone kits?

Gordon.
