I've the chance of buying 2 pairs of JBL 4628. I have NO experinces with these speakers, all I know they are in very good shape and are cheap, aprox 400$ for 2 pairs.

Would this be a good setup for my home theather? Of course I would need to add an subwoofer (probably SVS/TC Sound) but if we don't consider the ->50-60 hz will this be as good as I hope? BTW: I've just sold my old JBL HT1 "THX system" so that's what I have to compare against...

It's mainly for movies, for music I just bought a pair of 4435 :)

...aprox 400$ for 2 pairs. At $100 per cabinet, (!!!), you can certailnly afford to experiment! Don't expect "studio quality" sound from them, (they're designed for live sound reinforcement), but you'll have headroom to spare! (I own a pair myself.)

indeed, if they don't work out, I imagine it would not be difficult to recoup your
investment. I can think of a few people who would cough up $100/ea for these :D

If you find you like them, I've designed a trapezoidal enclosure for them. Specs are here:

http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=6403&page=2&pp=15

Read on for a couple of pages there to get to the final design with "wedgie" base.

A center made from 4612 components would match perfectly....

Those enclsoures look real good Zilch :applaud:

I haven't done anything with the buy of 4628 yet, I'm still waiting for my 4435 to arrive before I decied what to do.

I should really sell some oter stuff before I buy the 4628, otherwise I'm afraid my wife will not be very happy :bouncy:

Oh, don`t worry about selling something to get them. They are in my home now.:D

But if you are selling something, sell those 4435 to me for the price you gave for them. hehehe.

Best wishes
