Hi guys.

What are the opinions on the list about replacing the diaphragm with genuine JBL versus an aftermarket diaphragm. I can find aftermarket diaphragms for $40-$70. JBL diaphragms are $115 and up. What are the pros and cons of each?

What say ye?

Thanks!

The pro's is it's JBL Pro, and it's the real deal. The aftermarket dia's are a crap shoot....and usually sound like it.

One will give you defined reliability and performance...
The other says they will.
You will have to decide for yourself what is satisfactory
for your application.

Wow, that was fast!

It seems unanimous - stick with JBL.

May I ask what the differences are? FR? Impedance? Durability? Distortion? What's the audible difference?

Thanks again!

All of the above. The DC resistance is rarely the same as original. Durability is rarely as good and the hi-end reach isn't as good.
