I received the following question from an Ebayer and didn't know the answer. Could have ignored it, I guess, but it seemed an interesting enough question to post here:

"There has to be a port of some kind on the front baffle, as this model was before the passive radiator was added, but I don't see a port in the picture. I see something in the bottom left, as facing, that could be a port. Also, it looks as though there might be a panel at the top, opposite the h.f. drivers, that could be covering an opening of some kind?"

I recently read an article comparing the effectiveness of a port versus passive radiator but don't recall it discussing the necessity of one, rather, that it extended the bass. Weren't the early speakers such as mine simply sealed boxes? Thanks

I have seen an Olympus with a 130A and no passive. The woofer was centerd on the baffle, It had a single port on one side near the bottom. It was a huge duct about six inches diamater. The hole was covered with cloth.

I have an older Olympus C-50 cabinet sitting in my basement. There is no port.

No port in S7 or S8 Olympus. I added ports when I upgraded to 2235H woofers....
