I have been unable to locate these woofer clamps. Are they still available from JBL? Is the reason for using them due to the thinness of the backing material if flush mounting a driver in a recess?

I suppose the main reason is the ease of removing them; I would not recess a 12-18" driver unless I was using 1.25" thick material for the baffle board.

I have had some cast here, if there is enough interest, like 100 pieces, IŽll ask the foundry, it has been a while.

Alex.

JBL still sells all of the parts for the MA 15, they just don't sell it as a package deal. You will need to ask for the clamps, bolts and gaskets separately. JBL sells them very reasonably as loose parts. If I wasn't feeling lazy (still on Tahiti time) I would look up the part numbers for you, but if you phone JBL Pro Parts they will set you up.

JBL pro has the parts breakdown as follows for those who might be interested. Clamps are #60958 @ $6.57 each, bolts are #73522 @.36 each, T-nuts are #834-44011-00 @.10 each, gasket is #20059 @.60 each. Four of these will secure one driver.
So, with state sales tax included to do my 4355 clones comes to $197.32. Dave in the parts department said that they used to sell the clamps below cost but they can't do that anymore and these are the "new" prices.

Order the unpainted clamps and get the "T" nuts at a local hardware store. I got all the clamps for my 4355 clones for around $60.

I just got off my tail and dug up my JBL packing list. Apparently I ordered the same part#60958 as you are quoting. The packing list doesn't have prices, but I seem to remember the unpainted clamps were around $1.50 ea. I ordered mine 3/14/03. I guess I should have ordered 100 of the little buggers instead of just the 24 I needed for that project!

I got 24 clamps on august 22-03 from pro with help from a fellow forum user for 95 cents each. I might have got lucky or your dealer just ordered a new bass boat???:smthsail:

That's probably what I paid too, I don't really remember... all I remember was I was surprised at how cheap they were and the total including bolts, gaskets, and shipping was around $60.

I guess those days are over.

Well I'm put off using genuine MA15 clamps for my 4345 project 16 @ US6.57 each

G'Day All,
The latest parts list from the JBLpro site does not have the 60958 clamps listed...

Has anyone found a good alternative to these ? (hopefully less than US$6.57)

Thanks & Regards Scott
