1-3/8 - 18 UNEF threading die ($78, McMaster-Carr) neatly cleans driver "snoot" threads boogered by idiot eBay shipper.

Two drops of thread cutting oil from the hardware store made it easy going.

Paint brush and vacuum cleared most of the filings/chips, but masking tape is required to capture the last of them before any opening of the driver.

Once they get in the gap, it's Hell removing them.... :o:

An uncommon thread size, apparently. Your local machine shop may have the die. None of mine did....

So, what you're telling us, is that a "die" is supposed to bring threads "back to life"??

WTF?

Yes, the die will force the threads back into the proper shape.

By the way, MSC is another good source for that stuff. Their price on the die is between McMaster Carr and Wholesale Tool. http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRHM
