View Full Version : substitute axial and radial caps question

If you had a scenario where axials were subbed with radials and one lead is left much longer after soldering, does it have an effect on the cap? Specificly electrolytics?
I would think it would to some degree?

"It doesn't matter...."

Need more information
It Depends on the application. Lead length is important if there are concerns about inductance at high frequencies. For example for re coupling lead should be as short as possible.

Here is an article on capacitors I found very interesting. It cleared up a lot of questions I had.

What questions were cleared up?

At audio frequencies the capacitor lead length has no effect that would be an issue.
