Good question, I've been wondering myself :). For that matter, what about the 2022h - how does it compare, sonically? (I own 4 of them.)

As far as I can tell, the continuous power handling is in this ballpark:

2022h - around 300w
2204h - around 400w
2206h - around 600w

It seems that the only major difference, physically, is that the 2206h has the "VGC" feature (vented gap cooling I think) wherein the motion of the driver moves air around the voice coil to cool it. This is a grand idea if you are pushing a driver to extreme limits, I have seen what an overheated voice coil can do to the coil former and it is not pretty.

But, all numbers and specifications aside, I wonder which driver sounds the best... hope one day to own a pair of each so I can hear for meeself :D.

Do you currently own or operate any of the sound reinforcement 12's?

The 2022H has a 3" voice coil, the 2204H and 2206H have 4" voice coils.

I have a bunch of double 12 and a two inch horn that I use (among others).

I have compared the ones loaded with 2204s to the same enclosure loaded with the 2206 directly and have found no sonic difference.

I would think that the possibility of more low frequency extension would be possible with the 2206 due to the greater XMAX in a different enclosure design.

But hey were talking monitors for vocals not silly amounts of kick drum.
