My Sub1500 (serial # J864-06072) is mounted in a 5 c.f. sealed enclosure and driven by a Crown K2 amp. After the head explosion scene of the movie 'The Upside of Anger', I noticed the driver was making a voice coil rubbing sound. Upon examination I discovered that the spider has separated from the voice coil/cone assembly. This failure is different than the spider/frame separation described in the thread 'Sub1500 problem'. Can I reglue the spider to the VC?

Sounds like a manufacturing defect to me. One of the design goals of that driver was to eliminate that kind of problem. I'd call JBL and ask them to repair it. They can take it apart and determine if it was abused or not.

After about 3 hours of fighting with JBL consumer once I was told that Harman Specialty group supports the Sub 1500 but then they told me and Harman Consumer that they had a recone kit for it. Needless to say they are some really confused people down there.
