load impedance??

I have a Mac 4200 receiver and was wondering if I would damage it ,if I ran a set of 8 ohm and 4 ohm speakers at the same time? Both sets are JBL Thanks in advance.

That would be a load of less than 3 ohms, so unless the amp is rated to be stable at 2 ohms, I wouldn't do it.

Again, be aware you're going to create a sonic mess running two sets of speakers playing the same program material in the same listening space concurrently.

Be carefull running pairs of 8 ohms as well. The L100 dips real low to almost 4 ohms over parts of it's curve. So a pair of them could be trouble as well. Always a good idea to check the impedance plots to see what you really have as the 8 ohm ratings are nominal.

My 4315A's are rated 8 ohm, but an impedence plot has them dipping down to around 2 ohms in the lower midrange! 'Kept tripping the protection circuits on a cheap 8 ohm receiver I have - 'works fine with amps rated 4 ohms.
