View Full Version : Altec VOTT w/ 3 15" woofers

Anyone ever see or hear an Altec 210 style cabinet with not 2, but 3
515's in it? It was used in an A1 system in the early days......and later
switched to three 210's. Just wondered how rare they are and if any have survived.

There is one of these sitting in a theater supply in Richmond CA, which I have never heard. One section of the warehouse is a museum with a small operating theater. Projection is via Vita-vox dynamoter powered carbon arc with synchronized wax disk for the sound. Alas never heard or seen it all working... bet it's pretty interesting. Will dig around for a contact and post here.

Considering that the little room it's in only seats about 25 people, and no one sits more than 20 feet away..... yes!

If those side wings are the same as the ones in my garage, they're 2 feet wide. The bottom wing looks to be at least double that - probably 4 feet. The cabinets are 7' tall + 4' for the bottom wing, + another couple of feet for the horn = approx. 13' from the floor to the top of the horn.

Wonder if it's heavy....

The cabinets were called the 310. Two 310's bolted together = a 610.

1 foot taller than a 210 (8 feet tall).

46" deep - as compared to 39" for a 210.

First offered for sale in 1945. Production ceased in June of 1948.

Talked to Paul in California, and as far as he knew, the cabinet he saw 20 or 30 years ago just rotted away outdoors and was thrown away.

Bummer.................. I wish it was in my garage.

Wonder if there are any left?
