This Bass tuning thing has got me confused, The L-100, L166, and the L65 all share the same bass port, with enclosures that are different volumes. How can this be? They each use a 12" Woofer. Is it the difference in woofer characteristics?
I am sure most of you understand this tuning stuff very well. Can someone explain this to me in simple terms that a layman such as myself can understand?

Thanks

Mike

The L-100, L166, and the L65 all share the same bass port... Is that true? Do you mean port only, or duct, too?
'nother words, is their duct volume identical? :dont-know If so...

Is it the difference in woofer characteristics? Partly, , and also in the tuning (Fb) of the cabinet.

To know what Fb is (without prior knowledge...), you can model the various factory cabinet dimensions, with the factory port(s)/ducts and woofers, in a number of pretty slick packages, including BassBox Pro, and the freeware WinISD (http://www.linearteam.dk/ (http://www.linearteam.dk/)) which has the Thiele-Small parameters of the transducers preloaded, and where you can input all other cabinet and duct/port variables - make a donation if ever you can... :applaud:

Likely stacked high with flats of (warm or empty...) coldies, long ago. He couldn't hear then - noway that's improved! :p

I had to translate your terminology - flats - slabs.

The most I've ever stacked is 35 (dozen) flats for the Bathurst Race meet..dang car was on a tilt all way up the mountain.....well worth the effort.
