I have an S-center, 4 - S-36's and a JBL PB12. I like the sound of my system, but I'm moving to another room and have a chance to wire up for 7.1. I was planning on getting two more S-36's, but I can only find the all-weather or white one's. I did find a few black S-36's, but they were selling for a lot more that I paid for mine a while back.

So, I'm wondering what two JBL speakers to add to my system? And, where should they go?
I had a suggestion to use the new one's for the sides, as the front to back matching was important.
Personally, I think I could get away with smaller speakers for the rears.
Please give me some advice.
Thanks.

Do you have room for floor standers? harmanaudio.com has S-310s in Cherry for 188 each right now. That's not a bad deal.
Edit
In Beech they are even cheaper, at 177 each.

I got S412s/S38s/S Center. The larger and the smaller speakers work very well together. Do this, you will be glad you did.

Well, I was hoping to use a bookshelf / wall mountable speaker. Mostly for movie audio. Floor speakers would not be my first choice as my center is planned to be on top of my TV. But, I'm from what you are tell me.. you think I'm better off getting better front speakers?
Any other ideas?
Thanks.

i bought my dad a system that used 310's upfront along with the center and 36's for surrounds.

if you have the room upfront for the 310's, that is the route i would go since your lcr's are not identical anyway. the 310's blended much better with the center than i would have thought.

Other ideas for better front speakers would be a used set of S38s off of ePay. You may also want to check out the new Studio L speakers. Most of these are wall mounted.
