say I have an amp with neutrik speakon outs, and I have only four conductor speakon cable that has been striped to bare wire, but only need to use it in stereo...

will using only two of the four conductors of the four conductor neutrik connector cause a 8 ohm nominal amp to run in in 4 ohms?

thanks for the help.

No. You'll use the two wires your amp connects to for each channel. Look in your amp manual for the output connection details....

Open up the Neutrik SpeakOn connector and determine which wire is connected to "1" and which to "2". The labels are embossed into the plastic wall of the sockets where the screw connections are. Once you find them, you'll know this is very straightforward. "1" will be positive (or Red on the speaker connections).

The 4-conductor SpeakOn cable is made to carry 2 (+) and 2 (-), so if you were biamping, you would only need one cable run per side. In your case, you will only use two conductors, each side.
