I have a question about the crossovers in my JBL S310II's. Would there be any negative effect if I were to replace the caps with slightly different values? The current caps have values of 7uF, 16uF and 60uF. I want to use Solen and the closest I can find are 6.8uF, 16uF and 62uF. Are the exact values important?

Thanks for any help.

Those are likely close enough. Capacitors are commonly spec'd at +/- 10% tolerance. Actual values usually run under spec. They'd have to select them to get spot on. Measure what's actually in there when you remove them, and you'll see....

I would certainly shoot for exact values... the change could be negligible, subtle, or significant depending on a wide range of factors. If you are going to the trouble to "improve" your crossovers, then why add additional variables?

Madisound has 7uF and 60uF Solens... they only have a 15uF, but you could always parallel a 15uF and a 1uF and be good to go.

Hello Maabx. Solen has 15uf caps available directly from their Quebec, Canada office. I have bought directly from them many a time. Check their website. www.solen.ca/caps.htm (http://www.solen.ca/caps.htm) 450-656-2759
