Right in the middle of an action movie the receiver went out. :biting:
Turning it back on creates a hum and after about ten seconds, and one or two louder clicks out she goes? :(
Any quick fix... I was guessing maybe something to do with the power supply, but I tech challenged. Dump her?

Any recommendations for a high quality controller, or separates that could fill the bill for under 1,000 may be much Less?
Stuff I got list:
Mitsubishi DA15DC 150 per side, Pair L-7s, Three 4425s and junk for surround and a pair of LX44s. Sony D10 player, TT, DVD, VCR, Tape, ETC.
Something that could run a wireless remote system/amp for the kitchen would be nice, but not needed.
Suggestions, Links?
Thanks
Don

That's a great old reciever. I know older ones but know little about the newer ones. If your not upgrading other items like your video, and you can't take advantage of composite switching even if you had an up to date reciever I'd say fix yours if you could keep it under $200. If you on the other hand you're considering upgrading to HDTV and want to use your reciever as a means to switch signals you'll need a newer reciever with full video bandwith and all the superior hookups your Yammy dosen't have. I am pretty close to pulling the trigger on the Denon AVR-3805.

On ebay 5806206544, starting bid 99, buy it now for 199.

I still have a old Yamaha DSP A1, sounds a bit thin. So i would choose
something else.

I just got the Yamaha RX-V2500 (about $750) and I'm VERY pleased with it.

I have two AVRs. One from B&K which I like but it has had problems, and one that was much less expensive and I have had no problems with. It is an Integra something or other that was about $900 retail. I believe it is a brand marketed through system installers. It is made by Onkyo. I use both as controllers only using the internal amps for the surrounds.

I have had to help a buddy out several times with his Yamaha DSP A-1. I am not at all impressed with it.

I would buy another Integra and not another B&K.:(
