There's a pair of JBL Ti400 on eBay. I've never heard of these and they've sparked my curiosity. Can anyone tell me about these models, what drivers they have in them, and what target market JBL was directing these to (eg audiophile, hi-end, consumer, etc.). Link to auction:

Unfortunately there aren't any pictures of the drivers. I'm not interested in bidding on these because they seller's in England and seller doesn't have enough feedback. Just curious about the speakers

Okay, that was cute, but I did remember a review I read on the Ti600, which I'm linking to here:

Extrapolate as needed.

One interesting note is the comment on Titanium tweeter break in, to wit:

Actually, this is good to know, as JBL pioneered titanium domes way back in 1984. JBL says you'll need some 120 hours of work to get the drivers up and running, but from experience, I'd say 3-4 months is much more to the point. It will be the titanium tweeter which will take longest to really settle down to its true sound.

I've never seen that "JBL recommendation" here in the US. Anybody? :dont-know

There are a bunch of speakers JBL produced in Europe, (mainly Denmark, I think), that are not listed anywhere on JBL sites. I've got a pair of TLX60's new in the box, (for sale), and both the cabinets and shipping boxes say "Made in Denmark", but I've never been able to find any other info on them. I picked them up several years ago from a stereo repair shop that got them at some kind of audio clearance auction.

It be nice to find a site with more info on all this European stuff that's not at the regular JBL sites...

There is nothing to translate it's only the figures. The units you should know.
Don't get too weired about this series. Nothing to do with the real Ti series!!!!

Cheap consumer stuff.

Thanks, all. If I can extrapolate a little from the Ti600 review Ti Dome supplied the link to and the other comments above, it looks like the Ti600 and Ti400 were Europe-only models, made in Denmark and aimed at the home audio "consumer" market there. They likely are predecessors, or at least not-too-distant cousins to US-JBL's current Northridge series of speakers, the E60/E80/E90 et.al. Beyond both being made in Denmark, there doesn't appear to be any connection between these Ti400/Ti600 speakers and the TiK series speakers. Or the "Real Ti" series (18Ti, 120Ti, 240ti, 250Ti).

NO similarities, other than "Made In Denmark" that is.

Especially no connection to the Real Ti as I wrote!
