Hey, Klaus...

Are you making a three-way or four-way?

There are some baffle and enclosure plans for three-way here: JBL Enclosure and Baffle Plans - Link (http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=691) - look for both the 5ft3 and 8ft3 of each, for "Home" (vs Instrument/Music). Each discuss baffles for the 130A, 136A, D130 and LE15A - so they are sized for a single 15-in LF (and PR in case of 8 ft3 box).

But, you should run some models in something like BassBoxPro or WinISD to ensure these box volumes work for your project. And, make sure the baffle cuts are sized right for the transducer assemblage you are going with.

Here is info for the woofer:

http://www.jblpro.com/pub/manuals/enclgde.pdf

Put the mid in a sealed box or better yet Sonotube with a 0.5 cu ft volume.

Center the tweeter over the mid and you are done. It can be done easily in a weekend!

Looks suspiciously like a Ron Gold design ;)

In order...

1. I thought about that last night. Since we now know it's three-way system  , the N65 might work, but you'd better await input from Giskard - he models networks much more efficiently (and correctly ;) ) than I...

2. I going to duck that. :duck:

3. LF = Low Frequency (woofer); PR = Passive Radiator

4. Well, you never said you only had one of each! So, I was hoping you had 2x 2235's for each cabinet, and were embarking on a Large Format Studio Monitor build. THAT would be cool...

I'm curious if you know the background of Goldsound. For years they were listed in the annual Stereo Review and Audio equipment directories with their JBL kits. I mailed them a number of times asking for pricing and kit details and never got a single response.

Hey bo

i have two K140 reconed as 2235H from 1986.

Two 2235 per cabinet would give me that "earthquake like bass feeling " and would be "cool" too o.k.........

By the way do you know the actual price of an new 2235 H and could i combine the K140 reconed as 2235H (from 1986) with an brandnew 2235 in one cabinet ?

Thanks Klaus

Regrettably, the 2235H is no longer offered. The 2234H is (US$275 ea), and I believe the only (and biggest) difference is it does not have the mass ring of the 2235H. You can search the Forum for some discussion on this. Here's the best Link: 2234H, 2235H, and Mass Controlling Rings - Link (http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=414&highlight=2234)

And YES you can combine the K140 reconed as 2235H into a cabinet with a 2235H (and I would think the 2234H) - just build a BIG cabinet, and put each LF in it's own subenclosure (MF, too!)! And then, invite us all over... :band:

Afterthought: Maybe you should buy a 2234H, and recone it with the D8R2235 kt and leave in the mass ring. Voilą ! A 2235!

"Regrettably, the 2235H is no longer offered."

I'M NOT DEAD YET!!! :montyp:

JBL recently ran another batch of 2235H's. Get them here -
http://www.jbl.com/home/product_support/jblparts.asp?prodId=B380TK

It is conceivable these are finally the end of the line...
Gotta happen sometime...

Hi Don,

"I'm curious if you the background of Goldsound. For years they were listed in the annual Stereo Review and Audio equipment directories with their JBL kits. I mailed them a number of times asking for pricing and kit details and never got a single response."

Yeah, I know Ron Gold. I used to go over to his house back in the late 70's to see what he was up to. He worked out of his house back then. I have no clue as to why you never got a response.

"And which kind of amp do you recommend."

We're all pretty sure the PSSAudio amps are the only amps to buy ;)

Here's how he/she did it, boys-and-girls.

1. First, you must have an unequalled vast knowledge of JBL components and products. If "yes", proceed...
2. Go to JBL Home Product Support (http://www.jbl.com/home/product_support/default.asp)
3. Choose "B380" and then "Parts & Accessories", and hope the desired component is not "NOT AVAILABLE"

I am so unworthy.... Very cool. :coolness:

You're goofy! :rotfl:

So I wanted to use her as my avatar! :p The short of it is - I'm not a drawing of a 4430 either ;)
Truth be known, I just wanted to look at her face every time I got on this forum :D

Don, a friend of mine has pretty much every Gold Sound catalog between 1983-1990. If you would like them, I'll see about borrowing them and scanning them in, if I can get my scanner to co-operate...

Gordon.

Hey bo

its hard to get a second pair of 2235 H. To get an 2226 H is no problem.

Do you think it make sense to combine 2235 H with 2226 H.

When i calculate with winisd it gives me a box volume of 3,341 ft3
Driver : JBL 2235H
Project by : q
Project for : you
--
Number of drivers : 1
Box type : Vented
Box size : 3,341 ft^3
Tuning frequency : 32,63 Hz
Vent : 1 vent(s)
0,164 m length for each
0,102 m round

The data sheet JBL from 2235 H recommend a boxvolume of about 5 ft3
http://www.jblpro.com/pub/manuals/enclgde.pdf

please can you explain the difference.

Thank you

Klaus

"its hard to get a second pair of 2235 H."

Quota limit? It isn't hard to get a first pair? I posted the link to new 2235H's. It's pretty easy. If they won't ship to Germany, have a friend here get them for you and bring them over to you on holiday. Besides, you say you are using K series reconed as 2235's so get two more K series and get those reconed as well. It's best to have them all the same. The older alnico baskets are flaky so get them checked with a magnetometer and reguassed if necessary. You'll want all four to match.

"Do you think it make sense to combine 2235 H with 2226 H."

No I don't. You're the second person who has asked that.

"The data sheet JBL from 2235 H recommend a boxvolume of about 5 ft3

JBL probably has a better handle on how to use their own transducers. Use winISD to see how a 2235 behaves in the 5.0 cubic foot volume tuned to 28 to 34 Hz. winISD by default tries to come up with a maximally flat design and that often isn't what you want for LF response.

Klaus, why don't you ask Guido and Dieter to help you locate another pair of K140's and have them reconed as 2235's. That way you will have four matching drivers. Guido and Dieter also have K140's reconed as 2235's.
